The Society of Manufacturing Engineers Education Foundation (SME-EF) announced the winners of its Family Scholarship Award, which provides college scholarships totaling $90,000 to three future engineers. The scholarships have been awarded to Hemagiri Arumugam, of Hagerstown, Md., Geddy J. Lallathin, of Irvine, Calif., and Elizabeth Bowers, of Johnson City, Tenn.

Hemugiri Arumugam will attend M.I.T. to pursue a degree mechanical/manufacturing engineering; Geddy Lallathin will attend California State University to pursue a degree in manufacturing engineering; and Elizabeth Bowers will attend Tulane University to pursue a degree in chemical engineering.

In 2006, more than 150 students will share in over $384,650 in scholarships, courtesy of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (www.sme.org). The Education Foundation has given over $2.5 million in scholarships and awards to students studying manufacturing-related programs. Most scholarships are funded by corporate and private individuals through gifts to the foundation.
