Aquatech International Corporation (www.aquatech.com) won a contract for the Pearl gas-to-liquids (GTL) project in Qatar. Sponsored by Qatar Petroleum and Royal Dutch Shell plc (Shell), Pearl GTL is the world’s largest integrated GTL project, as well as the largest energy project ever launched within the borders of Qatar.

The scope of the contract covers the installation of a demineralization and condensate polishing plant, which will treat a total of 4,500 M3/Hr (20,000 GPM) of flow. Aquatech was chosen through a competitive bidding process and will execute the project in conjunction with JGC/Kellogg, the project’s management contractor.

Aquatech has also done similar work for Shell’s joint venture Nanhai petrochemical complex in China in 2005 and facilities for refineries in Thailand and the Philippines in the 1990s. The Pearl GTL complex is situated at Ras Laffan Industrial City, 80 km north of Doha, Qatar.
