A detailed technical overview on WirelessHART technology, the new wireless communication standard for process measurement and control applications, is now available for viewing at the HART Communication Foundation (HCF) Web site (www.hartcomm.org). HCF Executive Director, Ron Helson, and Chief Engineer, Wally Pratt, presented the technology overview at the request of the ISA SP100 Standards Committee during the committee’s May meeting in Austin, Texas.

The presentation was recorded live and provides an overview of the latest enhancements to the HART Field Communications Protocol (HART 7). The enhancements include WirelessHART and are fully backward compatible with existing instrumentation. Topics discussed in the presentation include technology features, design requirements, security, use cases and applications, connectivity options, deployment and commissioning, etc.
