Colder Products”HFC39 Series couplings have been tested for biocompatibility andperformance and are designed to prevent external organisms fromentering through the connector and into the flow path duringdisconnection. When integratedinto pre-sterilized single-use systems, the coupling”s automatic shutoffvalves allow an aseptic disconnection by closing off the flow pathprior to fully disconnecting. This allows users to completean aseptic break between silicone tubing assemblies. The valve designalso eliminates the need for pinch clamps or tubing welders. The plasticcomponents of the couplings are made from polysulfone, and theseals are made from platinum-cured silicone, which meets U.S.P. Class VI standardsand will withstand autoclave, EtO, Gamma, or E-Beam sterilizationmethods. The couplings function reliably with working pressure fromvacuum to 125 PSI (8.6 bar), and in temperatures from -40 F to 280 F(-40 C to 138 C). The couplings have a 3/8″ (9.5 mm) diameterflowpath and are available with hose barbs for 1/4″, 3/8″ and 1/2″ (6.4mm, 9.5mm & 12.7mm) tubing.
