Burkert’s Type 8400 screw-in temperature sensor/switch offers indication, monitoring, transmission, and on/off control capabilities inone device. Available in compact and wall-mounted versions, the unitfeatures an extra-large, eight-character display and menu-guided deviceprogramming. Standard fittings are used to connect the unit to theprocess piping. Outputs include programmable transistor andrelay plus process value (four to 20 mA). Outputs available in the wallversion include NPN/PNP, 700 mA, and 30 VDC max. Input external setpoint(compact version) is four to 20 mA. Measuring range is -40 F to 257 F (ambient temperaturebetween 32 F and 104 F) and -40 F to 194 F (ambient temperature above104 F). Wall version range is -40 F to 257 F. Maximum mediumtemperature is 257 F, with maximum fluid pressure of 230 PSI. Switchingaccuracy is +/- 0.5 F (32 F to 176 F); +/- 1.5 F (outside 32 F to 176 F).Repeatability is 0.4%. The unit’s housing is constructed of PC andfiberglass, while wetted parts are made of stainless steel (sensorelement) and FPM (seal).
