Sept. 24, 2013

Mitch Johnson is welcomed as the newest member of the Flow Control Editorial Advisory Board.

Matt Migliore

It is my pleasure to welcome Mitch Johnson as the newest member of the Flow Control Editorial Advisory Board. Mr. Johnson is the president of JMS Southeast, a manufacturer of thermocouples, RTDs, custom temperature sensors and thermowells based in Statesville, N.C. Mr. Johnson is a member of the ISA and serves on the ASTM E20 Committee, as well as the ASME 19.3TW, 19.3 and 40.9 committees, and advises the API 551 committee on temperature measurement issues. He is co-author of Practical Thermocouple Thermometry (2nd Ed., ISA) and served as Principal Investigator and co-author of Thermowell and Radiographic Testing Plug Design Recommendations and Typical Practices (EPRI 1023837).

Over the past two years, Mr. Johnson has been a regular contributor to Flow Control magazine, covering topics related to temperature measurement. As a member of our EAB, he will provide valuable expertise and guidance to our editorial team in the area of temperature measurement technology and applications.

I look forward to continuing to work with Mr. Johnson. If you would like to contact him on issues related to temperature measurement, Mr. Johnson can be reached at [email protected].

In other exciting news, Flow Control was recently recognized for outstanding achievement by several publishing industry award programs.

The Awards for Publications Excellence (APEX), a program of Communications Concepts, awarded Flow Control an “Award of Excellence” in the category of “Most Improved Magazine” for its 2013 redesign of the print edition of Flow Control magazine. Flow Control also won a Bronze award in the “Best Cover” category of the American Society of Business Publications Editors’ Azbee Awards program for its August 2012 “The Road to Compliance” cover concept. And, finally, Flow Control was recognized with a Bronze award in the category of “Best Use of Social Media” by the Trade Association Business Publication International’s Tabbie Awards program for its combined social media offering, including Facebook (flwctrl.com/FC-Facebook), Twitter (flwctrl.com/FC-Twitter), LinkedIn (flwctrl.com/FC-LinkedIn), YouTube/FlowTube (flwctrl.com/FC-YouTube, flwctrl.com/FC-FlowTube), and  our FlowStream blog (flwctrl.com/FC-Blog).

I would like to congratulate the entire Flow Control team for all of the time and effort they put in to make Flow Control magazine and all of its companion offerings the best they can be. Kudos.

Thanks for your readership,
