ISA, Beamex to Host Webinar on Methods for Calibrating Switches
The International Society of Automation (ISA) and Beamex will co-host a free webinar on April 23, 2014 focused on the purpose and appropriate methods for calibrating switches.
The webinar will run from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. EST and feature two leading calibration experts—Roy Tomalino, professional services engineer at Beamex, and Mike Cable, operations systems project manager at Argos Therapeutics.
Tomalino, with more than 15 years of technical training experience, has worked for Hewlett-Packard as a corporate trainer and in leading new product introductions and managing worldwide training activities.

Cable authored the ISA published book, Calibration: A Technicians Guide, and contributed to the Automation Body of Knowledge publication. Cable is a Level 3 Certified Control System Technician (CCST) and has assisted many automation professionals to gain their CCST certification.
The webinar will cover several different types of switch testing, calibration best practices, and application examples of the use of pressure and temperature switches.
"Our aim in conducting this webinar is to demystify switch testing and take the ‘shade tree’ mechanic out of the equation,” explains Tomalino. “We will illustrate how to automatically and precisely capture the pressure at which your switch should be actuated, instead of waiting for a click and guessing at which point the switch tripped on the pressure gauge dial."
