General Monitors Joins Field Device Tool Group
General Monitors joined the Field Device Tool (FDT) Group, enabling its gas and flame detectors with FDT Device Type Manager (DTM) technology. General Monitors gas and flame detectors with FDT DTMs are protocol and vendor independent, which greatly benefits users through ease of device integration within an FDT enabled control or asset management system.
FDT provides a common platform for data exchange for all available device drivers (DTMs) produced under its standard. This allows complete and functional access across different network hierarchies to all device functions for devices made available by the DTM. With this capability, every General Monitors gas and flame detector with an FDT Group DTM can be configured, serviced, and maintained via one basically standardized user interfaceindependent of manufacturer, device type or communication protocol.

General Monitors infrared sensing technology combustible gas detectors with FDT Group DTMs include the Models IR400 Single Point IR Gas Detector, the IR4000M Multi-Point IR Gas Monitor, and the IR5500 Open Path IR Gas Detector. The catalytic bead sensing technology S4000CH Combustible Gas Detector also is available with an FDT Group DTM.
General Monitors flame detectors enabled with FDT Group DTMs include the Models FL3100H UV/IR Flame Detector and the FL4000H Multi-Spectrum IR Flame Detector. The FL4000H detector employs General Monitors’ advanced neural network technology (NNT) to provide superior false alarm immunity with the widest field of view (FOV).
Other General Monitors gas detectors available with FDT Group DTMs include the Gassonic Observer-i Ultrasonic Gas Leak Detector (UGLD), which also features advanced NNT intelligence, and the TS4000H Toxic Gas Detector with electrochemical cell technology. The Model S4000TH H2S Gas Detector, which features thin metal oxide film (TFMOS) sensing technology, and the Model IR700 Point CO2 Detector are also available with FDT Group DTMs.
