Moore Industries (www.miinet.com) acquired Hawke International’s line of FOUNDATION Fieldbus and PROFIBUS PA device couplers and fieldbus power supplies. The products will be marketed under a new brand name, MooreHawke, and will be joined with Moore’s line of distributed I/O, temperature sensors, transmitters, alarm trips, and signal conditioners. Moore expects the combination to provide added application support to system integrators, DCS vendors, and fieldbus customers.
One new product release as a result of the acquisition is the MooreHawke TRUNKGUARD, a device coupler that provides automatic segment termination. This patented technology prevents fieldbus segment failure from under- or over-termination, a chief problem in fieldbus startups. The TRUNKGUARD”s auto-termination feature assures that local parts of a segment will continue to function if remote parts of that segment are accidentally disconnected, preventing downtime and hazardous situations — a matter of critical concern in both process and discrete manufacturing.
