ASHRAE and American Chemistry Council sign MoU
ASHRAE and the American Chemistry Council (ACC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) formalizing the organizations’ relationship. The agreement defines parameters on how the two organizations will collaborate to continue promoting the advancements of a more sustainable built environment. The organizations have committed to work together on objectives including: engaging in projects and activities whose purpose is to help improve the health, safety and welfare of communities through the built environment; supporting the development, adoption and enforcement of building codes and standards that support those improvement goals; promoting the use of sound science in the development and assessment of building standards and codes; and enhancing building performance by fostering improvements in energy efficiency, resiliency, indoor air quality and the health, well-being and productivity of building occupants.
SEPCO welcomed distributors to its Fluid Sealing School
Sealing Equipment Products Company Inc. (SEPCO), a global sealing solutions provider based in Alabaster, Alabama, welcomed more than 20 distributors during its annual Fluid Sealing School on November 19–21, 2019. Attendees gathered to learn about pump systems and other rotating equipment and how to seal these often difficult-to-seal machines. An in-depth look at mechanical seals, including application, installation operation and maintenance, and compression packing selection, installation and maintenance were highlights from the event. Experts also presented on topics including pump system basics; lubrication reliability and bearing isolators; plastic technology advancements and shaft stabilization with bushings; and air seal benefits and operation.
Cook Compression opens satellite service center in Italy
Cook Compression celebrated the grand opening of its satellite service facility in Sicily, Italy. The service facility supports the rapid reconditioning of compressor valves for ISAB S.r.l, a part of Lukoil Oil Company, and other refineries in the region. ISAB awarded Cook Compression a multiyear contract to provide technical support, reconditioning and upgrades for reciprocating compressor valves. Service personnel received in-depth training from the Cook Compression European Operations headquarters in the U.K., and ISAB has completed a full audit of the repair facility. The Sicily service facility has room to expand its capabilities in support of the region’s compressor service, repair and upgrade needs.
Valtorc announced as a 2019 GLOBE award winner
Valtorc International met the criteria for a GLOBE Award, determined by the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD), by having had export sales in at least one new international market in 2019. Valtorc, along with other GLOBE awardees, will receive official recognition by the Governor at the Georgia State Capitol. Awardees will receive their 2019 GLOBE Award certificates at the event.
