Emerson to exhibit at AHR Expo 2022

Jan. 24, 2022
Emerson highlights cutting-edge valve and valve system technology that supports building heating and infrastructure around the globe.

New, innovative ASCO solutions increase uptime and maximize efficiencies while decreasing emergency maintenance. They will be featured at AHR in Emerson’s booth #C3106, and include:

ASCO Series 158 Gas Valve and Series 159 Motorized Actuator

Designed specifically for burner/boiler applications, Emerson’s updated ASCO Series 158 and Series 159 safety shut-off valve and actuator solution is now globally certified. The new Series 158 gas valve and Series 159 motorized actuator combination, which has the highest flow factor and heat output ratings in the industry, adds EN161 certification to its existing FM, UL and CSA certifications. Paired with a temperature range of -40˚C (-40˚F) to 66˚C (150˚F), this combustion safety shut-off valve option helps enable a burner to safely and compliantly operate in practically any region.

Further updates improve application safety and reliability and enhance flow and control. With an increased maximum operating pressure differential (MOPD) rating, the Series 158 and Series 159 can handle pressures as high as 1.4 bar (20 psi), ensuring greater safety and dependable operation in areas subject to high system pressure spikes. Product designs now include a silicon-free option, and the monoblock is available in standard trim + seal overtravel configurations to meet a greater range of applications. A silicon-free option prevents process contamination, and new monoblock configurations come in standard trim + seal overtravel for design flexibility. Such comprehensive customizations and modular designs fulfill the requirements of a broad range of combustion applications.

Lead-Free valves for drinking water compliance

Emerson has expanded the options available on its ASCO lead-free solenoid valve line to enable original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and contractors to comply with U.S. Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) Section 1417. The new valves simplify identification and replacement of existing valves with lead-free models and preclude the need for OEMs to perform the complex wetted surface area lead content calculation specified by the SDWA.

The lead-free solenoid valve line gives Emerson the broadest range of lead-free valves and options for food and beverage, industrial energy and utilities, water and wastewater, reverse osmosis filtration, marine and plumbing applications. The product line includes a wide range of pipe sizes (1/8 inch up to two inches), more material choices and electronically enhanced coil options with low-power and voltage-ranging features. ASCO lead-free solenoid valves carry UL Listing certification and are certified/compliant to several NSF standards. Popular models will be available through the Emerson five-day QuickShip program.

ASCO Lead-Free Brass and RIDGID Press Tools

Since 2015, Emerson’s ASCO lead-free brass solenoid valves have helped mechanical contractors and plumbers comply with the EPA’s Safe Drinking Water Act’s low lead requirements. The ASCO product line continues to evolve, providing new and optimized solutions that assist end users with clean water automation.

Part of the ASCO innovation road map includes new end connectors that increase the speed of meeting EPA SDWA requirements. These labor-saving features adopt Viega ProPress and PureFlow fittings, which allow mechanical contractors and plumbers to install ASCO lead-free valves with a RIDGID Press Tool in seconds. No hot work permit and no plumbing unions required. ASCO lead-free brass valves come with a wide range of pipe sizes (½” to 2”) and electrical connections, reducing delays in inspection time.

ASCO Series 290D Pressure-Operated Piston Valve

Next-generation ASCO Series 290D pressure-operated piston valves from Emerson have been optimized for demanding combustion applications. New features improve process efficiency, reliability and safety while reducing costs. An all-stainless-steel valve head resists corrosion, offering protection from harsh environments and aggressive media. Options with EN 161 and EN 16678 certifications makes the valve globally viable for use in gas-burning appliances, and flanged connection options provide a tight seal. A more rugged smart positioner offers additional functionality and approvals. The valve has a low ambient temperature rating, down to -40˚F, providing reliable operation even in extreme climates. An increased MOPD of 20 psi and shutoff up to 75 psi offer high pressure tolerance, ensuring reliable operation at high pressures and preventing gas leakage.

Suitable for use with a wide variety of media, including aggressive fluids, steam, gas, vacuum and superheated water, the versatile piston valve comes in many options, certifications and characteristics.

ASCO Series 256/356 Two-Way and Three-Way Compact Solenoid Valves

The performance improvements of Emerson’s new ASCO Series 256/356 two-way and three-way compact solenoid valves help OEMs produce compact, energy-efficient equipment with high fluid control performance. With an optimized body design and internal flow path, Series 256/356 valves reduce component footprint and power consumption while increasing pressure ratings. The overall dimensions of Series 256/356 valves are 10% smaller than the previous generation, while the pressure rating has increased by up to 30%. While significant pressure ratings in smaller valve designs often use more energy, the Series 256/356 valves reduce energy use by as much as 40%.

The Series 256/356 valves are engineered to operate safely and reliably in many different applications, including those with harsh environmental conditions, and meet global health and safety standards.
