International technology company GEA has acquired Aseptomag, a supplier of aseptic and hygienic valves, valve modules, and system solutions, as part of its strategy to increase its solution set for the food market. In particular, the acquisition is expected to help GEA expand its offering in sterile and aseptic applications and increase its components for the food industry.

Based in Kirchberg, Switzerland, Aseptomag had a workforce of 35 employees and generated revenue of around CHF 19.5 million in the last fiscal year.

Aseptomag’s customers are mostly dairy, beverage, and food companies, but also include the pharmaceutical, chemical, and cosmetic industries. The company will be integrated into the GEA Mechanical Equipment Segment. The transaction is still subject to approval by the relevant antitrust authorities. GEA says it expects the acquisition to be completed in Q2 2012.
