As the ISA100 Committee prepares to issue a draft of its industrial wireless standard for work group balloting — the first step in the consensus-based approval process for the standard — ISA (www.isa.org) is offering a Web seminar to outline the basic characteristics of the protocol. The seminar is scheduled for 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. on Thur., Mar. 27. and will be presented by GE Global Research’s Dan Sexton, co-char of the ISA100.11a Committee.

Release 1 of the ISA100 protocol is intended to provide technology to address Class 1 (non-critical) to Class 5 applications, such as monitoring. The standard will be designed to assure multi-vendor device interoperability, and will include only 2.4 GHz 802.15.4-2006 radios.
