The Hydraulic Institute (www.pumps.org), an association of pumps and pumping systems suppliers and end-users, named Michael S. Cropper as 2007 Member of the Year during its Annual Meeting held at Marco Island, Florida. Cropper, who serves as global product development manager at Sulzer Pumps (www.sulzerpumps.com), was chosen for his significant contributions to the Hydraulic Institute over the past four years, according to the association. Since joining the association in 2003, Cropper has worked to revise and expand the organization’s standard Rotodynamic (Centrifugal) Pumps Design and Application.
In addition to his work on the Rotodynamic (Centrifugal) Pumps Design and Application subcommittee, Cropper has helped chair and actively participated in numerous other organization initiatives, including co-chairing the Pump Applications Guidelines Committee and vice-chairing the Joint Centrifugal/Vertical Pumps and Vibration Committees. While working with the Technical Affairs, Driver & Driver Controls, Housing, Monitoring Devices, Viscosity Correction and Pump Efficiency Prediction Committees among others, he also served as a contributing reviewer on the Department of Energy (DOE, www.doe.gov) Improving Pumping System Performance: A Sourcebook for Industry.
