Acromag”s BusWorks Model 989EN isolated discrete I/O units areinch-wide modules that provide an isolated Ethernet Modbus TCI/IP interfacefor any input/output mix of up to 16 discrete signals. Inputs sense thestatus of dry contacts, switches, power supplies, or DC logic.Industrial-grade units have eight 32-bit pulse counters with timers,alarms, and nonvolatile memory for metering, totalizing, andlow-frequency periodic measurement functions. Outputs controlsolid-state switching of lamps, horns, and other devices. Common applicationsinvolve monitoring of temperature, pressure, flow, level, and discretesensor switches in process control applications. Outputs are a good fit forswitching valves, actuators, pumps, and motors, as well as for audibleor visual alarms. Counter/timer functions are useful for proximity,RFID, or speed measurement and for totaling pulses in utility meter andpredictive-maintenance cycle applications.
