World Water Works, Inc., announced an investment in Aquanos Energy, Ltd., an Israel-based company that designed a patent-pending algae-based wastewater treatment process.

Aquanos Energy, Ltd., an Israel-based company, has designed a patent-pending algae-based wastewater treatment process for wastewater purification and renewable energy production.

World Water Works, Inc., a designer and manufacturer of wastewater treatment solutions, announced an investment in Aquanos Energy, Ltd., an Israel-based company that designed a patent-pending algae-based wastewater treatment process for wastewater purification and renewable energy production. The amount and terms of the investment were not disclosed with the announcement.

Aquanos’ technology is designed to capture the symbiotic relationship between bacteria and algae. Bacteria supplies carbon dioxide to the algae, algae provides oxygen to the bacteria, and both remove impurities from wastewater. This natural process reduces a wastewater treatment system’s operational costs by 40-60 percent and significantly reduces capital expenditures, according to World Water Works.

World Water Works expects to further enhance and optimize the Aquanos process using its AHTO (Algae Harvesting Technology – Optimized) expertise along with Moving Bed Biofilm Reactors (MBBRs). WWW’s goal is to deliver lower cost wastewater treatment while producing high grade sellable products from this process.

“I see this technology as a significant disruptor in the wastewater industry, and we are very excited about this partnership,” said World Water Works President & CEO, Mark Fosshage, in a prepared statement. “Our core technology will help complement their process to take the technology to the next level by producing sellable products. Our vision is to capture valuable resources from wastewater, and this partnership is one way World Water Works will deliver on that goal.”
