Endress+Hauser (www.us.endress.com) held a ground-breaking ceremony earlier this month to signify the beginning of construction on a new manufacturing facility in Greenwood, Ind. The facility, which is expected to cost $17 million to build, will serve Endress+Hauser’s Flowtec Division. Flowtec, based in Reinach, Switzerland, is responsible for Endress+Hauser’s flow measurement technology.
The new facility will consist of 74,000 square feet for manufacturing, including a new calibration laboratory, and 16,000 square feet for offices and training facilities. According to Endress+Hauser, the new facility will be dedicated to the manufacturing and calibration of electromagnetic flowmeters. With this added support, Endress+Hauser plans to expand its domestic magmeter offering to line sizes up to 48 inches. Endress+Hauser will also remodel Flowtec’s present facilities to better support its Coriolis, vortex, and ultrasonic flowmeter lines.
"We want to be close to our customers in the Americas. We want to meet their needs as fast and as flexible as possible,” said Klaus Endress, CEO for Endress+Hauser, in a prepared statement. "For short, we want to be a capable and reliable partner for our customers all over the world. That’s why we expand our production facilities in the United States as well as in Switzerland, Germany, France, India, and China."
