It has been a busy couple of months here at Flow Control, so I’d like to take this opportunity to cover two important topics in a single column.

FIRST, it is my pleasure to congratulate this year’s Flow Control Innovation Awards winners. Now in its 13th year, our annual Innovation Awards program aims to highlight the most compelling new technology releases for fluid handling applications. As part of our two-part Innovation Awards winners announcement, this issue of Flow Control features case studies on each of the winning technologies to give you a feel for how they are being employed to the benefit of real-world end-users. I encourage you to read this section, as it features some truly innovative fluid handling technologies, and I thank all of the readers who voted in the 2012 Flow Control Innovation Awards program. To read Part I of our winners announcement with profiles of the winning technologies and snapshots of what makes these technologies particularly innovative, click here.

SECOND, I want to offer kudos to the Flow Control team for the recent launch of our first “Technology Portal” on FlowControlNetwork.com. The Technology Portals concept is a new sponsored-content offering that we will be ramping up in the months to come to provide in-depth coverage and interactivity around specific fluid handling technologies and the applications they serve. Our first Technology Portal focuses on Thermal Mass Flow Measurement and is sponsored by Magnetrol International. It offers best practices and applications for thermal mass flow measurement, free downloads, information on Magnetrol’s thermal mass flow product line, and an interactive “Ask the tXpert” section that allows portal users to engage in a Q&A with Magnetrol’s Thermal Mass Flow Technology Expert (“tXpert”), Tom Kemme.

If you have comments and/or suggestions for how we might improve our Technology/Application Portals, please feel free to email me at the below address. And to all who celebrate on Oct. 31, Happy Halloween!
